Navadvip Chandra das, one of the Manor’s senior brahmacaris recently took up a new role as Temple President of ISKCON South London.
Around 40 years ago, devotees based at Bhaktivedanta Manor regularly stayed in the Croydon area and set up the foundations of Krishna Consciousness there. The temple in Enmore Road, Norwood, celebrated its 35th anniversary last year.
“I feel the role gives me an opportunity to help nurture and grow the wonderful community of devotees in South London. Srila Prabhupada’s mission is important everywhere, and especially in the borough of Croydon, devotees have been very sweetly carrying out service to Lord Krishna over many decades. A stronger ISKCON presence in South London is long overdue and I hope to play my part in its growth. Many initiatives are underway, as the community progresses towards offering full worship and local engagement. My training over the years at Bhaktivedanta Manor and the support I continue to receive highlights the way Bhaktivedanta Manor has helped communities across the UK.”
