Engagement and wedding are probably two of the most important ceremonies in a person’s life. A healthy and peaceful relationship can carve a future of happiness and wellbeing, and a couple can make progress on all levels in a good marriage. Performing these ceremonies in a traditional Vedic way invokes the blessings of the Lord and infuses the relationship with spiritual energy and love. It is said that when these ceremonies are performed at a temple, it gives one extra spiritual credits and blessings!

Why not book both these ceremonies to be performed at the Sri Krishna Haveli at Bhaktivedanta Manor?

Engagement (Vaag Danam)

Engagements are also Vedic ceremonies. Traditionally known as ‘vaag-daan’ meaning, giving of the word… a commitment to soon tie the knot of marriage. This may be expressed by exchange of rings, gordhana or panchanna, depending on family custom. Vaag-daan can also mean the time when the official announcement is made to the extended families. Both sets of families meet and exchange pleasantries and introductions. This is the beginning of a long relationship bond between the two families.

  • Performed when: When a commitment to wedding has been made, approximately 3-12 months before the wedding day
  • Performed by: Priest
  • Performed at: Temple/Home

Wedding (Vivaha)

Vivaha is the most beautiful event of all. The coming together of two beautiful individuals, commiting to a life of love, care and prosperity. Our ceremonies are carefully orchestrated; silent with interaction and engagement of the audience, lively, meditative and entertaining. All the mantras are sung in Sanskrit and their relevance explained in English. We can explain in Gujarati and Hindi as well.

  • Performed when: An auspicious day of your choice
  • Performed by: Priest
  • Performed at: Temple/Home
