Liverpool – Spiritual seekers abound!

Devotees from Bhaktivedanta Manor’s brahmacari ashram are often found travelling throughout the UK distributing Srila Prabhupada’s books to interested people. However, those with experience may agree that the best place in the country to meet spiritual seekers is…Liverpool. Therefore, for the past four months, Manor monks have based themselves in the city with the aim of establishing a permanent preaching centre there.

Headed by Antaranga das, the team have now acquired a house as a base.. From there, they travel a short distance into the city centre and erect their gazebos and attractive book tables.

Once a week the devotees invite all the interested people for an afternoon of kirtan, wisdom from the Bhagavad-Gita and delicious prasadam at the local Quaker’s Meeting House. Attendance at the weekly sanga has greatly increased in the last few months with an average of around 50 people participating, chanting and asking thoughtful questions.

To kick-start the year in style, the devotees organised a beautiful kirtan festival in one of the most prominent hotels in the area. With a team of world renowned kirtaneers, led by Ananda Monet, the event was a wonderful success.

With over 250 people attending, the air was electrified with the sound of the maha-mantra emanating from their mouths and as everyone got up to dance.

One of the guests commented “This event was amazing! The energy was surreal…it was one of the best nights I’ve had in such a long time. The chanting really helps with my mental health and the dancing was so much fun!…I would definitely love to attend more..”

The devotees remain very optimistic about the future of the Liverpool yatra and already have other events in the pipeline.
