Eton College comes to Bhaktivedanta Manor

For the first time, the prestigious Eton College made a special visit to Bhaktivedanta Manor. The boys’ boarding school, established in 1440, has been previously attended by members of the Royal family and no less than 19 British Prime Ministers!

“It was truly a wonderful experience to host them!” explained ISKCON Educational Services (IES) member Keli Chanchala dasi. “It was a small group of Year 11s, and their Religious Studies teacher is an author as well as a teacher.

“They were very inquisitive, very sweet, humble and proper gentlemen. We discovered that one of the students was the great-great-great grandson of the famous Russian writer, Leo Tolstoy! The young man expressed how much he appreciated the ‘simple living high thinking’ philosophy.

“At the end of the day we gifted them a Srimad Bhagavatam set for Eton College’s library, as well as a Bhagavad Gita. They really appreciated it all. The descendent of Leo Tolstoy placed the large box-set of Bhagavatams on his shoulder and carried it from the temple to their minibus. It was a really special moment!”

“They sent us a beautiful postcard with Eton College art-work on it. Among many words of appreciation, they again thanked us for the ”very generous gift of the Srimad Bhagavatam‘.’
