Devotees have been on the front-line of special Diwali events across Westminster, Central London.
As a public opener, Diwali in London (DiL) celebrations brought colour and joy to thousands in Trafalgar Square. Krishna Sanjay das is one of the founders and key Committee members of DiL.
Senior representatives of ISKCON, including Visakha dasi, Vinay Tanna, Sanjay Krishna das, Nila Madhava das, Radha Mohan das and also Nimai dasi from Leicester attended a host of Diwali functions in prestigious venues:
The House of Commons (Terrace Pavilion), The Speakers House, The Foreign and Commonwealth Office and with the Conservative Friends of India.
There was even Diwali at Number 10 Downing Street itself, which was seasonally decorated.
As part of the stage program, Her Grace Visakha dasi recited the “Om ajnana timirandhasya…” prayer and explained it by saying that the light of Diwali includes the light offered by knowledge, and in this profound Sanskrit prayer we are offering our respect and gratitude to the many teachers who have opened our eyes, which were covered by the darkness of ignorance, with the torchlight of knowledge…”
Afterwards the British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, made special reference to the warm reception and delightful atmosphere he experienced at Bhaktivedanta Manor, in October 2022.
